about

The Skeletor project existed to show that sound experimentation can be expressive and evocative, not just academic.
Sound was used as allegory; creating a vivid nightmare to emphasize the need to seek light in the darkness. Pitfalls were explored through the science-fiction world of a gang of 'living' skeleton's who plagued the last of the humans in a bleak future, in another galaxy.
Skeletor were commissioned to perform live at the Sonic Arts Network (SAN) EXPO in Scarborough in June 2005, where they explored the tension between Skeletor and his adversary, He-Man, particularly the dangers of power, egotism and hero worship.
The following year they were commissioned to look deeper into Skeletor's world. They chose to look into Skeletor's epicentre; the lair in which he and the other skeleton's congregate and experiment. This second work was performing at the SAN EXPO in Manchester, June 2006.
For each of their commissioned performances there was an accompanying album.
Inside The Lair was their second album, exploring the horrific, experimental rituals carried out by Skeletor, using technology, humans and their remnants on a forgotten planet, in a galaxy far away. Through sound the album focuses on their sinister nature; the emptiness that comes from a lack of soul; the glutinous deep pit of self-absorption; the danger of darkness.
The soundscapes created leave you wanting to escape the lair; Skeletor's is a world to be avoided, by looking beyond and outward..
